About JNPS
Japanese Network for Prevention Spartinas spreading (JNPS)
Japanese Network for Prevention Spartinas Spreading (JNPS) was established to protect the tidal flats of Japan from the invasive alien species Spartinas.
Oct. 2011. The estuary of the Umedagawa River (Aichi prefecture) was filled with Spartina alterniflora.
Our Misson
1. Prevent the expansion of the distribution of the invasive alien species Spartinas in Japan, eradicate it, and prevent new invasion.
2. In order to achieve the "Target 9" of "Aichi Biodiversity Target" shown in CBD-COP10 in 2010, we will work as a network for controlling and exterminating Spartinas in Japan in collaboration with domestic and overseas organizations and society.
Main Activities
We will collect information on the distribution and ecology of Spartinas from Japan and overseas, and will disseminate information, in order to prevent the expansion of the distribution in Japan,.
